Scammer in PTA East malls
There's a guy, fairly short, who has been targeting shoppers in malls around PTA East. We first met him in early 2019 at Park View. We were expecting our child, so his story really worked on us.
He claims his wife died during labour, and now he's an unemployed single father with a newborn and two other kids. He has a small piece of paper with a few things written down: Baby formula number 1/2 Nappies size 2/3 Basic items like that. He fooled us the first time, and we got him everything on the list, and two bags full of food, all from the Woolies we were going in to.
After covid lockdown, he approached me again, this time at Woodlands. It was about a year and a half later, so woth the same story, I immediately knew it was all a scam. I was furious and told him off, then left. Since then he has approached me FOUR more times, at Castle Gate, and Woodlands, yesterday being the most recent.
He doesn't remember me obviously, despite the fact that every time he comes to me I make a massive scene so all potential victims around can see and hear. He takes the stuff and sells it in a spaza shop - this is a common thing. Scamming people is my biggest peeve. Please guys, stay alert and don't let this one fool you.
