About ScamReports.za

South Africa's community-driven scam log — helping people spot, report and avoid online fraud before it spreads.

ScamReports.za was built after seeing how often everyday South Africans get hit by the same recycled scams, fake job offers, impersonated brands, investment cons, and social media swindlers. We wanted a fast, free, public place where victims and witnesses could warn their neighbours.

On the 18th of December 2025 the site was attacked by a group calling themselves Legese in Durban, with a threat to stop us publishing scam alerts. We came back stronger, with a larger team, hardened infrastructure, and a deeper commitment to exposing internet scammers operating in South Africa.

Behind the scenes we run a dedicated network of volunteers and a specialised investigation team that alerts the relevant authorities. Reports are not just listed, every claim is reviewed, cross-checked and verified against multiple sources before it stands on the site. This is the ultimate community vetting system: real people, real evidence, and a direct line to law enforcement when it matters.

Our mission

Make online scams visible so fewer people fall for them.

Community first

Every report comes from real people. Anyone can submit, comment, or counter-claim a report.

Moderated & safe

Our team reviews submissions and removes abuse, but we never replace official law-enforcement channels.

Independent

Community-run, not affiliated with SAPS or any commercial brand.
